‘Figments of Our Imagination’

Photos & video shot out on the Shannon river during last summer’s heatwave.

All life exists as two halves that make the whole, we exist in reflection both spiritually and physically. Our bodies are a living trick, created by the mirror of each half on the other, what we learn to call our left and right.

By tilting my camera, reflections in the watery surface reveal a myriad of natural figurative abstractions. Offering a fresh way of seeing, provoking an instinctual expectation to see perhaps creatures and especially faces in the living symmetry of our world’s mirror. Figments of Our Imagination.

As the canoe silently drifts I hold these faces in your expectant frame, letting the Sun and breeze play its spotlight through passing clouds, letting nature breath an animate sense of a conscious life into what we encounter there, as if looking back out, at us.’

Let your imaginations leap to create wild and unexpected companions, that may surprise you.

‘Revolutionary Ghost’

A series of large drawings that seek to portray a Republic through the passing mystery of its each and every individual, in a simultaneous concert with their fellow multitude. Using the now sacred traces of people caught on film during Ireland’s early 20th century revolution, to compose large scenes gathered around familiar totemic ghosts, hoping to evoke fresh senses of personal and public narrative.

Last year a large drawing of Antonio’s was exhibited in Dublin’s Royal Hibernian Academy. Subverting satellite surveillance images ‘Here’s Looking At You Kid’ zoomed in to discover the secret garden inside the Pentagon.

This is Antonio’s 2nd solo exhibition with

Dublin’s historic United Arts Club.
