Exhibition Opening – Thursday 7th February 2019 at 8pm United Arts Club : NCAD Fine Arts Print Course introduces “Print Out Loud”
The Fine Art Print course at NCAD maintains approaches to traditional printmaking while encouraging practice across a broad field of Print Cultures including photo-montage and digital image generation. The works in this exhibition are from students preparing for their graduate exhibition in June. Students are working across themes of gender, spirituality, acoustics, rural Ireland and pareidolia. The works are accompanied by a series of prints made to celebrate the centenary of the death of Bram Stoker.
United Arts Club Film Evening Saturday 18th May 2019 at 8pm “A Town Like Alice” (1956) This drama, based on the book by Nevil Shute, focuses on Jean Paget (Virginia McKenna), a British office worker captured by the Japanese in Malaysia during World War II. Kept with other women prisoners, Jean eventually meets Australian soldier Joe Harman (Peter Finch), who secretly aids the weary group by stealing food. When Joe’s actions are discovered, he is punished, and Jean assumes…
